What many people don't know is that there are simple ways to help prevent mirrors from fogging up in the first place. You can help keep your mirrors fog-free after a steamy bath or shower using products you probably already have at home.

Things You'll Need

  • Car wax
  • Soft towel
  • Shaving cream
  • Toothpaste

Car Wax

Use a soft towel to apply a small amount of car wax directly to the mirror.

Rub the car wax onto the mirror using a circular motion; make sure the entire surface is covered. Allow the wax to dry completely.

Remove the wax from the mirror using a clean towel.

Shaving Cream

Apply a generous amount of shaving cream to the middle of the mirror.

Use a soft towel to spread the shaving cream onto the mirror; make sure you cover the entire surface of the mirror.

Use a clean towel to dry the mirror.


Apply a generous amount of toothpaste to a soft towel.

Rub the towel on the mirror using a circular motion; make sure you coat the entire mirror with toothpaste.

Wipe the mirror clean with a towel.
