Whitening soap is one way to lighten your complexion.

Skin-whitening soap is popular among those who wish to achieve lighter, clear skin. It can help minimize dark spots on skin due to sun damage, acne or scars. While it may not be the most effective whitening treatment, it is a good option for those who do not wish to use harsh products with dangerous chemicals. Whitening soap can be purchased in stores, but if you're crafty, you can make up a batch of your own.

Step 1

Grate the bar of organic soap and orange peel into the mixing bowl using a cheese grater. Add the water and safflower or almond oil, then cover the bowl with plastic wrap.

Step 2

Dip a paper towel into the vegetable oil, then rub it on the plastic cup. This prepares the cup to be a mold for your soap.

Step 3

Microwave the soap mixture for 30 to 45 seconds, keeping an eye on it to make sure it doesn't bubble over the edges of the bowl. If the soap hasn't melted, microwave it for another 30 seconds. Remove the soap from the microwave once it has melted, and take off the plastic wrap.

Step 4

Add the lemongrass oil and cinnamon oil to the soap, then stir it in with a spoon. Mix thoroughly for at least two minutes.

Step 5

Carefully pour the soap into your prepared soap mold, then place the mold into the freezer. After one to two hours, remove the soap from the mold (you will know it is ready when it will pop right out). If desired, cut it into smaller pieces. Store the soap in wax paper, and allow it to sit for another 24 hours before use.
