Let's get started with some measurements! First, measure from the top to the bottom of the tote bag and cut two straps to match this length. Then, measure across the bottom of the tote bag and cut one strap to fit. With these straps in hand, we're one step closer to transforming your tote into a stylish sun hat carrier!

2. Secure ends of webbing

If you've opted for nylon webbing for your straps, it's important to secure the ends to prevent fraying. Simply grab a match or a lighter and swiftly pass the end of the strap through the flame. This gentle melting action will help seal the fibers, keeping them from unraveling.

For cotton webbing, simply zigzag the ends of the straps to prevent fraying.

3. Clip the straps to the bag

Position the vertical straps on the front of the bag directly beneath the carrying straps and secure them by clipping the tops and bottoms. Then, place the horizontal strap 2 inches up from the bottom of the bag and secure its sides with clips.

4. Sew the ends of the straps

Use a sewing machine (or opt for hand stitching if you prefer) to securely attach the ends of each strap to the tote bag. We recommend using a denim or leather needle (100/16) and heavy-duty thread due to the multiple layers of fabric involved in the sewing process.

Gently slide your hat beneath the tote bag straps and you're ready to go! With your hat securely tucked away, it's always within reach whenever you need it. Now, you can hit the road with confidence, knowing your hat is safely stored and ready for any adventure.
