Homemade Cleaning Solution for Braun

Braun, as well as other brands of coffeemakers, tend to get dirty from frequent use. The trapped moisture beads can not only cause the inside of your coffeemaker to mildew, but it can also produce mold that can make you sick if ingested. To remedy this common issue, you can create a homemade cleaning solution for your Braun or other brand coffeemaker using common household ingredients.

Things You'll Need

  • 4 cups white vinegar
  • 1 tsp. salt
  • 4 cups water
  • Plastic jug

Add the white vinegar to the plastic jug. Use a disposable water jug with a lid.

Add the salt to the vinegar in the jug.

Add 4 cups of water to the jug. The water can be distilled water or tap water. It doesn't matter whether it's warm or cold.

Secure the lid of the jug and shake it vigorously to disperse the homemade cleaning solution.

Tips & Warnings

  • Pour the cleaning solution directly into the water reservoir of your Braun coffeemaker. Use the entire amount of solution or as much as can fit in the water reservoir of the coffeemaker. Run the concoction through your coffeemaker as if you are making a pot of fresh-coffee. Run the vinegar water through the coffeemaker a couple of times to assure in optimal cleansing. Run clean water through the coffeemaker two times after using the homemade vinegar cleaning solution in your Braun coffeemaker to remove residual cleaning solution, which is safe for consumption and nontoxic, as well as the smell.
