In the process of installing ceramic tile, many of the tiles must be cut. This creates dust that can cover surfaces and find its way into cracks and crevices. Cleaning up the dust after a ceramic tile installation is not difficult if it is done in an organized manner using proper equipment and materials.
Things You'll Need
- Painter's tape
- Plastic drop cloths
- Shop vac
- All-purpose cleaner
- Paper towels
Video of the Day
Cover as many surfaces as possible with plastic drop cloths prior to the tile installation. Plastic drop cloths are better than fabric because the plastic prevents dust penetration. Use painter's tape to tape crevices or cracks.
Remove the plastic and the painter's tape carefully after the work is complete. Fold the plastic in from the outer edge to the center to keep the dust in the plastic.
Use a shop vac to vacuum the entire room. Start in one corner and work your way around the room. Ensure that you vacuum all surfaces in the room, including the ceiling. Vacuum inside of cabinets and drawers.
Wipe the entire room with an all-purpose cleaner and paper towels. Start in a corner and work your way around the room, wiping every inch of each surface.
