How to Take Care of Richloom Solarium Fabric

Save

Solarium is the trademark name of an outdoor fabric line made by Richloom Fabrics Group. Fade and mildew-resistant Solarium fabric, made of 100% polyester or a synthetic blend, is designed for outdoor use. A “W” cleaning code applies to Solarium fabric, according to the customer service representative at Richloom Fabrics Group. This requires the use of water-based cleaners only. You can take care of Richloom Solarium fabric by following the recommendations developed for fabrics labeled with cleaning code “W.”

Things You'll Need

  • Vacuum cleaner
  • Brush (optional)
  • Water-based foam upholstery shampoo
  • Soft white cloth or sponge

Vacuum or lightly brush Solarium fabric frequently to remove loose dust and debris.

Spot clean Solarium fabric, as needed. Apply a small amount of water-based foam upholstery cleaner to spots with a soft cloth or sponge, following the manufacturer’s instructions. Let the foam cleaner dry and vacuum away the residue.

Turn over or reposition cushions covered with Solarium fabric regularly to minimize excess wear and fading.

Move items covered with Solarium fabric out of direct sunlight when not in use.

Store items covered with Solarium fabric inside during inclement weather to protect them from the elements.

Tips & Warnings

  • Avoid over-wetting the fabric during cleaning.
  • Apply the suds only if using a non-foam water-based cleaner.
  • Do not use bleach or solvent-based cleaners on Solarium fabric.
  • Never machine launder Solarium fabrics.
