Bamboo floors offer the look of wood in a durable material without the maintenance that hardwood floors require. While maintenance is low, there is still some cleaning required, and a steam mop is not the best option.

Problems with Steam
Steam mops, like a wet mop, can cause damage to bamboo floors. Water may seep in and cause the flooring to swell.
Use a mop with a microfiber head or soft-bristled broom to clean the floor daily, or as needed. Clean the floor with a product specified for wood floors. Immediately wipe any residual solvent off the floor. Vacuum bamboo at least every two months to remove any debris that is missed from regular sweeping and dust mopping.
To extend the life of bamboo flooring and further reduce the amount of cleaning required, seal the floor with a urethane sealer.
