If your child's birthday theme is SpongeBob SquarePants, add a theme pinata for one of the party activities. A SpongeBob SquarePants pinata can be made using a paper bag, a piece of posterboard, a marker and colored pencils. With these materials and a few cartooning basics, you can create a SpongeBob SquarePants collectible that will please your youngster.

Video of the Day
Lay the posterboard down on a clean, flat surface. In graphite pencil, lightly draw a wedged rectangle that is about two feet tall and one foot wide. The larger part of the wedge should be on top.
Divide the wedge into four sections by drawing a cross over it. Place the horizontal line slightly higher than the center of the rectangle.
Draw SpongeBob SquarePants' eyes as large circles. The edges of the eyes should be touching the guidelines which you drew across the wedge shape.
Draw SpongeBob's eyeballs, pupils, cheeks and nose. Allow the lines to overlap with the lines of the eyes.
Draw the mouth, dimples, teeth, tongue and the bottom edge of the lip.
Draw the shirt, collar, tie, and pants that SpongeBob Squarepants wears. Continue to align all elements of the drawing with the guidelines created in step 2.
Draw a wavy line around only the sponge part of SpongeBob's body. Draw in his eyelashes, sponge holes and freckles.
Draw some small, slender arms and legs. Don't bother with details of fingers, but rather draw a mitten hand on the ends of the arms. Draw short sleeves, shoes and socks on the arms and legs.
Trace over the outermost edge and important elements of the drawing with a black permanent marker. Take care not to draw the parts of the eyes that are behind the cheeks and nose. Also, do not draw the part of the arm that is behind the sleeves. Wait for the ink to dry before continuing.
Erase any pencil lines which are still showing through the permanent marker. Use colored pencils to fill in SpongeBob SquarePants' body. Color the sponge holes green, skin yellow, the eyes light blue or teal, the pants and freckles Tuscan red or brown, the tongue and the bottom edge of the lip pink, the tie red and the shoes black.
Cut out the pieces of the SpongeBob drawing and tape them together. For a poseable character, use brass fasteners at the shoulder and hip joints. Tape or glue the drawing to the front of a large paper bag, preferably one with handles. Fill the bag with candy or small favors. Tie the handles to a tree and let the blindfolded party guests take whacks at it.
