How to Make a Gimlet


When it's been a long day and you're in need of a good, stiff drink, sometimes those fruity cocktails simply won't do. A classic gimlet will cut through your weariness and leave you feeling cool as a cucumber with its clean, refreshing flavors. Calling for just three ingredients, it doesn't get any simpler than that. Shake, strain, and sip slowly... or not.

Things You'll Need

  • Cocktail shaker
  • Ice
  • 2 oz gin
  • 3/4 oz fresh-squeezed lime juice
  • 3/4 oz simple syrup
  • Strainer
  • Cocktail glass
  • Cucumber (for garnish)

Step 1

Fill a cocktail shaker with ice.

Step 2

Pour in 2 ounces of gin.

Step 3

Pour in ¾ ounces of fresh squeezed lime juice.

Step 4

Pour in ¾ ounces of simple syrup.

Step 5

Shake all of the ingredients and strain into a cocktail glass filled with ice.

Garnish with a cucumber slice.
