Gift giving can be a chore, especially when the person you are buying a gift for is your boss. Things can get even more difficult if you are buying a gift for a boss who seems to have everything. Avoiding common gifts such as ties, coffee cups and golf balls can be difficult, but by thinking outside the box, you will be able to find the perfect gift for that boss who already has it all.

Charitable Donations

Video of the Day

In lieu of a traditional gift, you can make a charitable donation in your boss' name. Pick an organization that has a special meaning to your boss. If he loves animals, you can sponsor a cat cage or a dog cage in his name. The money you donate to the Humane Society will purchase one new home for a stray dog or cat, and your boss' name will appear on a plaque on that cage. Toys for Tots is another organization that has a charitable donation recognition program that can fit a variety of budgets. Once you donate in your boss' name, Toys for Tots will send a card or a Christmas ornament to your boss letting him know of your donation.

Photo Gifts

Get your boss a special photo framed for her desk. You can commemorate a special time she, or your team at the office, won an award or did a community service project together. If your boss achieved personal goals, such as running in a race, or volunteering this year, find a photo, newspaper clipping or other memorabilia from the event and have it framed. If your boss has a family, consider making a calendar with family photos, so she can be reminded of her family while stuck in the office.

Spirits

Alcohol is one thing that even the boss who has everything can always use more of. If your boss likes to drink, get him a nice bottle of his favorite scotch or other liquor. If you are celebrating a special event with the gift, get a nice bottle of champagne. You can also give your boss a professional drink mixer, or his own office bar kit, that he can use after work. You can make your own kit by purchasing a stainless steel shaker, swizzle stir stick and a bar-tending or cocktail book, then put them all together in a decorative basket.

Family Time

If you have a boss who seems to spend all of her time working and not enough time with family, consider getting your boss a gift certificate to spend some quality family time. If your boss doesn't have kids but is married, get her a gift certificate to a romantic restaurant and encourage her to go out to dinner. If she does have kids, get her passes for the whole family to go to a movie or play miniature golf, or for your boss and her spouse to go to dinner or the movies alone and offer to babysit their kids.
