Use flames as inspiration for a fire-themed costume.

Creating a fire costume is a good way to be creative and stand out on Halloween. This costume isn't sold in stores, so you can put your own personality into it to make an original costume. To really up the ante of cuteness for your fire costume, dress your child, spouse or a friend as a firefighter. You'll get lots of compliments on this element-themed ensemble.

Step 1

Choose a base for your costume. This can be a red shirt and pants or a skirt or even a dress if you have one handy that you don't mind using for a costume.

Step 2

Cut flame shapes out of felt and glue them to various parts of your outfit. Make the flames more interesting by creating large orange flames and gluing smaller yellow ones in the middle of those. Allow the glue to dry before pulling your costume on.

Step 3

Paint your face with fiery colors. Use orange and yellow eyeshadow, red blush and red lipstick to create a flame inspired face. Use face paint to create small flames all over your face.

Step 4

Color your hair with some temporary red, orange or yellow hair dye.

Step 5

Embellish your costume further by adding red, orange or yellow sequins to the flames with small dabs of glue.
