How to Create a Fire Costume. You'll be too hot to touch in this fun fire costume.

Step 1

Cut a red ribbon into six 2-yard strips, an orange ribbon into 10 1 1/2-yard strips, and a yellow ribbon into 12 1-yard strips.

Step 2

Put on a red dress, tights and shoes.

Step 3

Put a red belt on loosely over your dress, leaving enough room to reach several fingers underneath it.

Step 4

Tie a piece of red ribbon around the belt next to the buckle, positioning the ribbon so that the knot is hidden behind the belt and the two ends hang down to different lengths. Next, tie on a piece of orange ribbon, then a yellow piece. Make sure the ribbons all hang down to different lengths. Repeat this process all the way around your belt until you reach the other end.

Step 5

Tighten the buckle to fit your waist.

Step 6

Spray the orange hair color onto your hair.

Step 7

Draw red, orange and yellow flames on your face.

Step 8

Paint your fingernails, using red and orange on alternating fingers.

If you don't have a red belt or pair of shoes, you can use red spray paint to paint them red. If you don't want to paint your face, you can buy a red mask instead. You can make an easier and cheaper version of this costume by using red, orange and yellow crepe streamers instead of ribbon.
