How to Make Costumes of the Seven Dwarfs

Save

Fans of the 1937 movie classic, "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs" are familiar with the distinctive personalities of Snow White's miner friends, Sleepy, Sneezy, Dopey, Happy, Grumpy, Bashful and Doc. A group of seven friends can become the dwarfs for Halloween, each adopting a particular character. Stocking caps, baggy clothing and a few choice accessories will transform your group into the dwarfs. Dress each person in a different color shirt and add finishing touches to reflect the dwarfs' individuality.

Things You'll Need

  • 7 knit stocking caps
  • 7 over-sized shirts, long-sleeved
  • 7 belts
  • 7 pairs baggy pants
  • 7 pairs boots
  • 6 Santa-style beards
  • Pillow
  • Pink and black face paint
  • Large pair fake ears
  • Toy trumpet
  • Flower basket
  • Wire-rim glasses

Step 1

Dress each person in the stocking caps, over-sized shirts, pants and boots. Fasten a belt on each person's waist, over the shirt. Distribute the Santa-style beards for every dwarf, except Dopey, to wear.

Step 2

Give Sleepy a pillow to carry with his costume and advise him to yawn excessively.

Step 3

Paint Sneezy's nose pink for the look of a sore nose. Sneeze loudly instead of saying, "Trick-or-Treat."

Step 4

Attach the fake pair of ears over Dopey's own ears. Give the toy trumpet to Happy. Advise both characters to smile often.

Step 5

Paint a severe black line over each of Grumpy's eyebrows and advise him to scowl.

Step 6

Fill a basket with silk flowers for Bashful. Paint his cheeks pink to create the flush of embarrassment.

Step 7

Give the glasses to Doc to wear and assign him to lead the group of dwarfs when walking from door-to-door.

Tips & Warnings

  • Make name tags for each dwarf, if desired.
  • Carry seven plastic mining picks for an extra costume touch.
  • Form a line and march while trick-or-treating, whistling songs together to stand out as a group.
