The Sith use the Dark Side of the Force in Star Wars.

The Sith are a group of Force-practitioners from the Star Wars realm dedicated to exterminating the Jedi using the dark side of their magic. Bring the dark side to your party or event by dressing up as a Sith Lord – one of the evil masters seeking the supreme power and control in the universe. A few simple articles of clothing will allow you to play the role of some of the most famous antagonists in the Star Wars universe. The items you will need vary depending on the costume character you choose.

General Sith Lord Costume

Step 1

Decide whether you want to be a general Sith Lord character or a specific character such as Darth Vader, Darth Maul or Darth Sidious (Emperor Palpatine). Begin creating any of these costumes by wearing a black shirt, black trousers, black shoes and black gloves.

Step 2

Wear a long black hooded cloak with the rest of the black outfit. You can buy one or create one yourself with black fabric (see Resources).

Step 3

Add a red lightsaber to your costume and pull down the hood so you can see but others cannot see your face.

Specific Sith Lord Costumes

Step 1

Create a standard Darth Maul costume by following the Section 1 instructions. Add the Darth Maul face by either wearing a mask you can purchase from a costume shop, or by painting your face with red and black face paint (see Resources). Use a double-bladed red lightsaber for this costume.

Create the alternate Gi-style Darth Maul costume by wearing a wide-sleeved black robe over the rest of your black outfit. Tie it shut with a wide black piece of fabric. Tuck the sleeves into your gloves and your pants into your boots.

Step 2

Create a Darth Sidious/Emperor Palpatine costume by following the Section 1 instructions for the general Sith Lord costume. Add a Palpatine mask; you can purchase this mask from a costume shop or use white face paint to cover your face, including your lips and eyebrows (see Resources).

Create the alternate Darth Sidious/Emperor Palpatine costume by wearing an ankle-length red robe and matching red hooded cape along with your mask or white face paint. Paint the tops of your hands as well with white paint for added effect.

Step 3

Create a Darth Vader costume by first following the general Sith Lord costume instructions in Section 1. Darth Vader also has a chest box you can either purchase from a costume shop or paint on a jersey or piece of cardboard (see Resources). Print out the Darth Vader Mask PDF file (see Resources) and use a string or rubber band to hold it on your head or use a costume shop mask.
