Things You'll Need
Clear glass ball ornaments
Empty egg carton
You'll see many beautiful and whimsical ornaments in department stores around the holiday season but you can decorate your Christmas tree with something a little more personal by designing your own ornaments. Start a new family Christmas tradition this year by getting everyone together to create paint-swirled glass ball ornaments to hang from the tree. All members of the family will be represented by their favorite color combinations.

Remove the metal top off of the ornament by pinching the thin metal loop and pulling off the top. Place a few drops of each color of paint into the ornament.
Move the ornament around in different directions; take care not to tilt the ornament at an angle that would allow paint to spill out. Keep swirling the ornament until the entire inside of the ornament is covered in paint and there are no spots of clear glass showing.
Place the ornament in an empty egg carton to dry for at least 24 hours. Replace the top on the ornament once it is completely dry.
Ornaments with two or three different colors of paint work best. More than three colors in a single ornament may result in a muddy hue.
Further embellish the paint-swirled ornament with stick-on rhinestones, ribbon or vinyl letter stickers for a monogram.
