Schlage electronic door security provides an additional level of intruder protection compared to standard key locks. Many of the company's electronic locks combine a door handle or knob with a numeric keypad. To open the door, users must enter a four-digit code and pull the hand or turn the knob. You might want to change your Schlage code if you suspect someone has discovered the existing code.

Delete Existing Code

Step 1

Enter the programming code supplied with the system. It was printed, along with the default user codes, on a yellow label on the back of the lock.

Step 2

Press the "Schlage" button then "2."

Step 3

Type the code you want to delete twice. The lock beeps to confirm the deletion.

Program Replacement Code

Step 1

Enter the programming code a second time.

Step 2

Press "Schlage" then "1."

Step 3

Enter the new code twice; the lock beeps to confirm the new code.

Step 4

Test your new code; the door opens if the code was programmed successfully.

Schlage lock codes must be 4 digits long.
