  1. Coffee Filter Flower Bouquet

    • Instead of giving your mother fresh flowers that will soon fade and die, give her a gift of flowers that will last over time. Coffee filters are painted in bright colors with acrylic paints or water colors. Once dry, the base of the filters are twisted and one end of a green pipe cleaner is wrapped around it to form a stem. Multiple stems are grouped together and tied with a ribbon or placed in a vase or pot. The filters can be adjust to create large, open blooms. Add a handmade card to the bouquet before giving it to your mother.

    Painted Vase

    • Hand paint a decorative glass to create a colorful vase for your mother. Acrylic paints can be applied to the outside of the jar in various designs and shapes. Try painting flowers, hearts, or polka dots in her favorite colors. Once the jar is painted and dry, a clear glaze can be applied over the design to preserve it. This craft uses 2 cups of Epsom salts, 1 cup of rock salts and 1/4 tsp. of glycerin mixed with a few drops of food coloring and essential oils to create sweet smelling bath salts that your mother is sure to enjoy. Be sure to use your mother's favorite scent and color when mixing the bath salts to ensure that she'll love your gift. The colored mixture can be poured into a decorative jar with a ribbon and card tied around the lid.
