Save money by making your own trident.

If you are planning on dressing up as a devil, a demon or even Poseidon, the Greek god, your costume will not be complete without a trident. However, purchasing costumes and costume accessories can get expensive very quickly. Luckily, with a visit to your local craft and hobby store and the use of a few household items, you can make your own trident for a fraction of the price.

Step 1

Use the hot glue gun to glue the craft foam rectangle to the end of the broomstick. This will serve as the base for the trident spikes.

Step 2

Cut your cones to size if necessary, and glue the first cone in the center of the foam rectangle.

Step 3

Glue another cone on each side of the center cone. You should now recognize the skeleton of your trident.

Step 4

Wrap duct tape around the foam area entirely to reinforce it as well as give the paint something more substantial to stick to than foam.

Step 5

Use spray paint to paint your trident. If you are matching it with a Poseidon costume, spray paint the entire trident gold. If you are matching it with a devil or demon costume, you could spray paint the entire trident black or red, or do a combination of the two colors.
