Felt is a versatile and easy to use fabric that is found in fashion, home decor items and crafts. It is a fairly absorbent fabric, and to keep it pliable you need to use fabric paint. Given the slightly rough surface of felt, it's easier to apply paint with a squeeze bottle to create precise, fine lines rather than using a brush.
Things You'll Need
- Marker or white chalk pencil
- Dimensional fabric paint
Painting on Felt
Lay the felt flat on your work surface. Measure and cut it to the shape required for your project.
Draw the design you want to paint on the piece of felt. If you've chosen a dark-colored felt, use a white chalk pencil. If you've chosen a light-colored felt, use a marker.
Write a word or draw a shape on a scrap piece of felt. Use the glitter glue to trace the word or shape. Practice until you are comfortable using the bottle to draw on the felt.
Hold the dimensional fabric paint squeeze bottle however you feel comfortable and trace the design you drew on your felt.
Set the painted felt aside and let dry completely according to the manufacturer's instructions before using it.
