How to Boil Cinnamon Sticks

Boiled cinnamon sticks can give your home a lovely fragrance, make a delicious tea and add spice to a favorite recipe. According to Prevention, German researchers found that cinnamon also regulates blood sugar by stimulating insulin receptors. Whether you use it to cook, for therapeutic purposes or to enhance your home's scent, boiling cinnamon sticks is a task that you can accomplish with ease.

Step 1

Combine cinnamon sticks and water in a small pot. Use one cinnamon stick for each cup of water added.

Step 2

Bring the cinnamon sticks and water to a boil. Let the cinnamon and water boil until the water starts to turn brown.

Step 3

Reduce heat to a low temperature and simmer the cinnamon sticks and water. Allow them to simmer for five minutes before turning off the stove.

Tip

Reboil the cinnamon sticks periodically if you are using the water to create fragrance. Remove the wet cinnamon sticks from the water, allow them to dry and crumble them up to make potpourri.
