Things You'll Need

  • Drawstring

  • Safety pin

Using a safety pin will make it easy to restring your sweatpants.

If the drawstring in your sweatpants has broken or been lost inside the sweatpants, you can easily fix the problem. Restringing the sweatpants will take around 15 minutes, and you'll be able to wear your pants without them falling down. In fact, this simple method can be used on almost any clothing with drawstrings.

Step 1

Pull the drawstring completely out of the sweatpants. If it is broken, you will need to buy a new drawstring, although a large shoelace may be long enough to work. Tie a knot in one end of the drawstring so that it cannot be pulled through the hole in the waist of the pants.

Step 2

Attach the other end of the drawstring to a safety pin, which must be small enough to fit through the hole in the pants. Push the safety pin into the hole and guide it through the waist of the pants.

Step 3

Pull the safety pin out through the other hole. Remove the pin from the drawstring and tie a knot in that end of the string. You have now restrung the sweatpants.
