A lollipop costume can be worn for a Halloween party or a school play. Making one at home can be a cost-effective alternative over purchasing one at a costume shop, where similar costumes can sometimes be expensive. A lollipop costume can be made with a few basic items and requires no sewing, making it an ideal project for sewing novices.

Step 1

Trace a large circle onto a piece of poster board using a pencil. The circle should be about 16 inches tall. Cut out the circle with scissors.

Step 2

Draw a swirl pattern onto the circle reminiscent of a lollipop. Make a center dot in the middle of the circle, and draw a rounded line out to the edge of the poster board. Return your pencil back to the center point and draw another rounded line that goes out to the edge of the board about 3 inches away from the first line. Continue your way around the circle until you have filled it with stripes.

Step 3

Paint each section of the pattern in different candy colors like pink, blue, green and yellow. Let dry.

Step 4

Place a headband at the bottom of the circle, and trace its outline with a pencil. Cut out the traced line and insert the headband into the opening created. Attach the headband in place with super glue. Let dry.

Step 5

Pair the lollipop headband with a white shirt and white pants to look like the stick of the lollipop.

Tip

If the costume is for a child, let her help paint the poster board.

Warning

Make sure not get any super glue on your hands or clothes.
