Step 2

Trim any frayed edges that may interfere with the repairs.

Step 3

Spray the contact cement onto each of the sides of the space in the webbing to be repaired. If there is not enough material to overlap the webbing sufficiently, use a patch of extra webbing and spray the contact cement on one side of the patch and on the area where it is to be applied.

Step 4

Overlap the two areas that have been glued and press them firmly together to allow them to bond. Apply the patch with the contact cement if overlapping the material is too short.

Step 5

Choose the appropriate needle and thread. For small tears in items such as lawn chairs, a regular needle and waxed dental floss should be adequate to repair the damage. For a thicker weave of nylon mesh or items that need to be waterproof, use an upholstery needle and fishing line.

Step 6

Sew the glued area of the nylon webbing together using the materials chosen above and stitch with spacing of no more than 1/8-inch apart. Pull and push the needle through thicker webbing with pliers.
