Things You'll Need

  • 15 Popsicle sticks

  • White glue

  • Paper towel

When you are done with your Popsicles, save the sticks for crafts.

Popsicle sticks can be used to make small rafts for science projects, craft projects or as prop rafts in dioramas. Science project uses may include a floating test to see which types of items can float on the raft without sinking. Craft projects may include floating tea lights or miniature sleds. The raft is easy enough for children to build, and can be completed with recycled materials in only a few minutes.

Step 2

Place beads of glue in four horizontal lines across all of the sticks. Space the beads of glue evenly to provide the best support.

Step 3

Place your remaining four Popsicle sticks horizontally across the beads of glue and press them firmly into place so they adhere to the other sticks.

Step 4

Use a paper towel to wipe off any drips or excess glue.

Step 5

Allow the raft to dry according to the instructions on the glue bottle.
