How to Make an Apple Costume

  • Red T-shirt

  • Red cloth laundry bag

  • Fabric scissors

  • Red thread

  • Sewing machine

  • Batting

  • Red leggings

  • Green headband

  • Green construction paper

  • Hot glue

Whether it is for a school play or a Halloween costume party, an apple costume can be hard to come by in stores and buying one online can be expensive. Making your own apple costume is less expensive and can be a lot of fun. As long as you have some basic sewing skills and materials, you can quickly make your own personalized apple costume that can be adapted for all shapes, sizes and ages.

Step 1

Cut a hole in the middle of the bottom of the laundry bag through which your head will go. Cut one arm hole on each side of the laundry bag.

Step 2

Line up the T-shirt on the inside of the laundry bag. Pull the sleeves of the shirt through the arm holes in the laundry bag and sew the arm holes onto the top of the shirt sleeves.

Step 3

Sew the head hole in the laundry bag to the collar of the T-shirt. Stuff batting in between the shirt and the laundry bag until it is completely full.

Step 4

Sew the remaining open edge of the laundry bag onto the bottom of the shirt. Pair this with some red leggings.

Step 5

To make the stem, roll up a piece of construction paper to make a tube that is 6 inches tall and glue it onto the headband.
