Make Jewelry with Fishing Line

You can make jewelry with fishing line. Fishing line can be used when making necklaces and bracelets. Once the necklace or bracelet is assembled, the fishing line will disappear beneath the beads that have been added to the line. Fishing line is rated by different strengths, indicating the size fish it can bring in without breaking. Choose a maximum-strength line.

Step 1

Measure the length you will need for a bracelet or necklace. Cut a length of fishing line which is double that size.

Step 2

Prepare to attach one side of a barrel clasp to one end of the length of fishing line, using a clinch knot.

Step 3

Begin the clinch knot by passing the end of the fishing line through the eye of the barrel clasp on the half you are attaching to the line.

Step 4

Double back with the end of line that was passed through the eye, wrapping around the section of fishing line near the eye, about five turns.

Step 5

Pass the end of the fishing line through the first loop above the barrel clasp eye, and then through the large loop and pull to tighten. If done correctly, the line will not slip off the eye if tugged.

Step 6

String beads on to the fishing line. The entire bracelet (except for the barrel clasps that will be attached on each end of the string) should be covered with a bead. Add enough beads to make the desired length.

Step 7

Add the remaining half of the barrel clasp to the end of line where you are adding the beads. Position it as close as possible to the last bead added.

Step 8

Cut off any excess fishing line and tuck any exposed end of fishing line under the beads to conceal.
