How to Make an Aladdin Costume. A popular Disney character, Aladdin provides an easy costume to make for your child on Halloween. Everything except the hat can be rummaged from your closet or the local resale shop. If you substitute a turban for the hat, you may avoid having to purchase anything. The following steps show you how.
Things You'll Need
White sweat pants
Use a white long sleeved shirt or t-shirt for the top and white sweats for the pants. Aladdin doesn't always wear a shirt, but it might be a little chilly on Halloween for that.
Fold a colorful rectangle shawl into thirds. Wrap it around the waist and tie in a knot for a belt. If the shawl is fringed on each end, that adds an even more interesting effect to the costume.
Top the white shirt with a bright colored vest.
Make the small Aladdin hat by covering an empty plastic bowl--an 8 oz. sour cream container is perfect. Wash and dry the container thoroughly. Place bottom down on a piece of red felt. Draw around the circle with a pen and cut out. Determine the circumference and height of the container. Use these measurements to cut a rectangle out of the same material. Hot glue both pieces onto the container. Make a hole on each side to insert bobby pins.
Wrap another shawl or colorful silk scarf turban style around the head if you don't want to take the time to make a hat.
Use small pieces of reflective tape on the front and back of the costume for safety.
