DIY Scented Vinegars for Cleaning Tutorial

Vinegar is one of the most amazing cleaners, but the smell can be a little overwhelming (dare we say, unpleasant?) to some people. It's really easy to make your own DIY scented vinegars for cleaning that not only smell amazing, but have added cleaning properties as well.

Things You'll Need

  • Distilled white vinegar

  • Orange peels

  • Lemon peels

  • Fresh rosemary

  • Fresh pine needles

  • Quart sized glass jars

  • Spray bottles

Step 1: Fill jars halfway with fruit peels or herbs.

  • Orange Vinegar: Perfect for cleaning grease and sticky messes in the kitchen.
  • Rosemary Vinegar: An ideal antibacterial cleaner throughout your home.
  • Lemon Vinegar: A powerful disinfectant to use in bathrooms.
  • Pine Vinegar: Your go-to cleaner for wood surfaces.

Step 2: Pour hot distilled vinegar over the fruit peels and herbs.

Fill vinegar the top of the jar and seal with a lid.

Step 3: Let it sit for 24 to 48 hours.

These scented cleaning vinegars make amazing gifts, and can be stored for up to 6 months. If you want to get really creative, you can mix fruit peels and herbs to make some lovely scented vinegars like orange and clove or lemon lavender. The possibilities are endless!
