Things You'll Need

  • Old tire

  • Fabric paint

  • Paintbrushes

Use an old tire to mark shirts.

Making fake tire marks on a shirt can help make a Halloween costume -- or it can simply add an interesting decoration to a plain T-shirt. Making it is simple and will only take a few hours to completely dry. Purchase the materials you'll need at a craft or fabric store. Practice rolling the tire to make tread marks several times on a pieces of paper, until you determine the best consistency and pressure for the material and the tire you are using.

Step 1

Lay the shirt on a flat surface outside. Decide where you are going to place the tire tread marks.

Step 2

Paint the tread on the tire with fabric paint. Don't paint in between the tread. Use any color you like, but black or brown creates a more realistic look.

Step 3

Immediately roll the tire over the T-shirt. Apply pressure if you are using a light tire, so that the pattern is pressed into the fabric.

Step 4

Let the shirt dry completely.
