Rubber stamps are typically used to stamp ink onto paper, but they can be used in other ways as well. For example, you can use rubber stamps while painting a picture to add interesting realistic details. With the following technique, rubber stamps can be used to apply acrylic paint to a canvas just the way you would apply ink to paper.
Step 1
Squeeze or pour acrylic paint into a bowl to a depth of about 1/4 inch. Use the same type of acrylic paint that you would use when painting a picture.

Step 2
Place your canvas on a flat surface. This will enable you to apply the acrylic paint with a stamp, without drips.
Step 3
Dip a rubber stamp into the paint so that only the rubber portion of the stamp is covered. Tap any excess paint back into the bowl.
Step 4
Press the rubber stamp straight down onto the canvas, then lift it straight up again. This will prevent the paint from smudging.
Step 5
Continue painting the picture using your brushes.
