Things You'll Need
Plaster of Paris
Water
Plastic bowl
2 small balloon
Straight pin
Fine-grade sandpaper

Plaster of Paris can be used to create a wide variety of sculptures, crafts, models and molds. You can even make delicate replicas, such as egg shells. You can use plaster of Paris egg shells to decorate your house for Easter, or you could use them as a decorative planter for your kitchen counter herb garden.
Step 1
Blow up two small balloons to about the size of a large egg. Set the balloons aside.

Step 2
Pour 2 cups of plaster of Paris into a large plastic bowl, and add in 2 cups of water. The mixture will be a loose consistency. Avoid getting the plaster of Paris onto your skin. Once the substances have been combined, you must act quickly, as it will begin to heat up and set.
Step 3
Dip the ends of the balloons into the plaster of Paris mixture, one at a time. Do not leave the balloons in the mixture, simply dip it into and out of the mixture quickly. Continue to dip the balloons until you have created a 1/8 inch shell on the bottoms of the balloons. Hold the tied ends of the balloons in your hands until the plaster of Paris dries.
Step 4
Pop the balloons with a straight pin once the plaster of Paris has set. Remove the deflated balloons, and discard them. If using your egg shells as planters, gently sand the bottoms of the egg shells with a fine-grade sandpaper to make it flat.
