One of the most important sporting events in high school is the Homecoming football game, in addition to the festivities and dance that come along with it. Decorating for the Homecoming game at the football field is not only an ideal way to show school spirit, but also makes the game stand out from other weekly showdowns.

Step 1

Create a football banner for the team to run through at the start of the game. The cheerleaders can use the banner, made of multiple pieces of butcher paper taped together, to paint players names and numbers on.

Step 2

Design a balloon arch to use with the banner. Use a thin PVC pipe to create the arch. Then wrap the strings of helium balloons in school colors to cover the pipe.

Step 3

Attach the balloon arch to the ground. Tie two ropes to each side of the arch and secure it with two bricks or sandbags.

Step 4

Hang alternating colored balloons in school colors up and across the back of the school bleachers.

Step 5

Stream school-colored crepe streamers along the back portion of the bleachers, on the backrest or up any railings.

Step 6

Hand out pom-poms to a set number of people to help the cheerleaders cheer on the team. If you have a limited budget, only pass out the pom-poms to the first people who show up until there are none left.
