Roll and stack diapers to make a truck themed diaper cake.

Diaper cakes supply a new mother with items she will need for her newborn. Diaper cakes also double as centerpieces for baby showers. Rolled and stacked diapers resemble a cake, and then are decorated with baby items. The cakes often have a theme to match the baby shower or the baby's gender. A truck diaper cake, a common theme for boy baby showers, will be decorated with trucks and truck toys.

Step 1

Place a 16 to 20 oz. bottle of baby shampoo onto the center of a cake board. Roll five diapers into a cylinder shape by rolling the open end of the diaper to the back. Do not open the diapers when you roll them. Secure the diapers with a rubber band.

Step 2

Stand the diapers vertically, creating a circle around the baby shampoo bottle. Secure the diapers in place with a large rubber band.

Step 3

Form a second circle of rolled diapers around the first ring of five diapers. Roll the diapers in the same manner, and secure them with small rubber bands. You will need to create 12 of these, then stand them vertically around the first circle of diapers and secure them with a large rubber band.

Step 4

Make a third circle of diapers around the two diaper circles. Roll 25 diapers into the same cylinder shape, and then secure each one with a small rubber band. Stand these diapers vertically around the second circle of diapers. Instead of securing these diapers with a large rubber band, you will need a 1 and 1/2-inch thick piece of ribbon long enough to wrap around the last circle of diapers. Leave extra ribbon to tie a bow in the front, and make sure you hide the rubber bands wrapped around the diapers with the ribbon.

Step 5

Create a second tier for the diaper cake. This second tier will cover the remainder of the baby shampoo bottle. Instead of three circles of diapers, this tier will only consist of two circles. Roll five diapers from front to back, and secure them with a rubber band. Stand them vertically on top of the first tier of diapers around the remainder of the baby shampoo bottle. Secure the diapers in place with a large rubber band.

Step 6

Form another circle of diapers around the first circle. Roll 12 diapers and secure them with small rubber bands. Secure all the diapers in place with another thick piece of ribbon. Leave enough room to tie a bow around the diapers in the same fashion as the first cake tier.

Step 7

Sit the baby powder on top of the second diaper tier. Make the third diaper tier by placing a ring of five diapers around the baby powder. Secure each of the rolled diapers with a small rubber band, and then secure these diapers in place with a thick piece of ribbon. Leave excess ribbon to tie a bow in the front to match the other two tiers of the diaper cake.

Step 8

Decorate the diaper cake with rubber trucks. You can cut out a cardboard shape of a truck and paint it. Tuck the cardboard truck behind a section of the thick ribbon to hold it in place. Roll up truck "onesies" and place them between the layers of the diaper cake. Buy baby socks with picture of trucks, and add a stuffed truck to the top of the diaper cake for a topper. Add other items the new mother can use, such as towels, lotions and travel-sized baby supplies.
