A margarita gift basket makes a great housewarming or hostess gift, particularly for a recipient who loves margaritas, theme parties or unusual gifts. Surprise someone with a colorful margarita gift basket filled with everything needed to make delicious margaritas along with some tasty snacks to go with them. You can package a margarita gift basket in any container, but a metal ice bucket carries the theme of frosty drinks and it becomes a useful part of the margarita kit.

Step 1

Purchase a bottle of margarita mix and a bottle of tequila to get your margarita gift basket started. If you are using a small basket, purchase a bottle of margarita mix that contains alcohol to eliminate the need for a second bottle.

Step 2

Add at least one container of colored margarita salt or sugar. Include a colored salt or sugar that matches your margarita mix to give the margarita gift basket a consistent theme.

Step 3

Line the metal ice bucket with a colorful tablecloth or cloth napkins. The liner will act as padding and will keep the items in place. Pack all of the items for your margarita gift basket into the lined metal ice bucket.

Step 4

Fill up any empty spaces in your margarita gift basket with plastic margarita glasses, a bag of tortilla chips, a small jar of salsa and guacamole mix. You can also add fancy crackers, cheese and summer sausages as hor d'oeuvres to go with the margaritas.
