Things You'll Need

  • Glass bottle

  • Crayons

  • Wax paper

  • Baking sheet

  • Pot holders

  • Oven

You can cover bottles with colorful wax.

If you're looking for a decorative item, consider melting crayons over a glass bottle. When you use different colors, the wax swirls together, creating a unique effect. This craft project is easy to do, but it looks complex once finished. Once you have the finished product, you can simply display it on a shelf, or use it as a candle holder for a tapered candle, letting the dripping candle wax add to the effect.

Step 1

Unwrap the paper from the crayons. You can discard the paper.

Step 2

Place wax paper in the baking pan. The paper should fully cover the pan so that you avoid getting wax on the pan.

Step 3

Arrange the crayons on the wax paper. The larger the crayon, the more of that color you'll have on the finished project. Break the crayons into small pieces to avoid large areas of the same color.

Step 4

Put the baking sheet in the oven. The oven should be set to 250 degrees Fahrenheit. Allow the crayons to melt. This should take about 10 minutes. Check periodically because you don't want the wax to burn.

Step 5

Place the glass bottle on a piece of wax paper. This will protect your table.

Step 6

Pour the melted wax over the bottle. Once the wax has melted, you can carefully lift the wax paper by the edges and pour it over the bottle.

You can also put the wax on the bottle by rolling the bottle in the melted wax.
