  • Size 5 US double pointed knitting needles

  • Size 7 US double pointed knitting needles

  • Yarn needle

  • 8 oz. worsted weight yarn

You need to have basic knitting skills to complete this project. You need to be able to knit, to purl and to knit in the round.

Step 1

Cast 54 stitches onto the smaller needles, distributing evenly among three of the four needles.

Join stitches without twisting.

Knit 3 stitches and purl 3 stitches all the way around.

Repeat step 3 until the piece measures approximately 5 inches from the cast-on edge.

Knit 2 stitches together all the way around. You will have 8 stitches remaining.

Step 5

Cut yarn, leaving a 6 inch tail. Thread the tail through the yarn needle and through remaining stitches. Pull tight to close. Weave in loose ends.

Tip

If you don't like to knit in the round, you can work the piece back and forth in rows and then stitch a side seam.
