How to Bake a Salmon Fillet Portion

Things You'll Need

  • 1 small glass or ceramic baking dish with cover

  • Extra virgin olive oil

  • 6-oz salmon fillet

  • 1 teaspoon lemon juice

  • Salt to taste

  • 1 teaspoon herbes de Provence

Salmon, a hearty fish with a lot of beneficial fats, stands up well to almost any seasoning. Whether cooking for one or a hundred, salmon is very versatile and easy to prepare. The following recipe uses herbes de Provence, a blend of herbs common to the South of France available in major grocery stores.

Salmon with Herbes de Provence

Step 1

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.

Step 2

Brush the baking dish with olive oil and place the fish in the baking dish. If the salmon has skin, place the fish skin-side down

Brush the top and sides of the fish with olive oil.

Step 4

Sprinkle the top of the fish with the lemon juice, salt and herbes de Provence.

Step 5

Cover and bake on the center rack of the oven for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the fish flakes easily with a fork.

Tip

Use your hands to sprinkle on the herbes de Provence. It expresses the oils in the dried herbs and brings out more flavor.
