Crocheting a child's sailor cap is easy with my free pattern!

Things You'll Need

  • 4 oz white worsted weight yarn
  • Size K crochet hook

Size: Fits a child 6-7 years old Gauge: 2 rounds of dc=1 1/2"

Note: Weave in ends as work progresses.

Rnd 1: Ch 4, join w sl st in 1st ch to form ring, ch 3, 11 dc in ring, join w sl st in top of ch 3 (12 dc).

Rnd 2: Ch, dc in same dc, 2 dc in next dc and in each dc around, join as before (24 dc).

Rnd 3: Ch 3, 2 dc in next dc, dc in next dc, 2 dc in next dc, rep from around, join as before (36 dc).

Rnd 4: Ch 3, 2 dc in next dc, dc in next dc, 2 dc in next dc, rep from around, join as before (54 dc).

Rnds 5-10: Ch 3, dc in each dc around, join as before, fasten off after Rnd 10 (54 dc).

Rnd 11: Turn hat upside down (you will now be forming brim, working upwards). Join yarn w sl st in back loop of 1st dc of Rnd 10 (the loops farthest away from you when work is upside down), ch 3, dc in next 2 dc, 2 dc in next dc, dc in next 3 dc, 2 dc in next dc, rep from around, ending with dc in each of last 2 dc, join as before (67 dc).

Rnds 12-14: Ch 3, dc in each dc around, join as before, fasten off after Rnd 14 (67 dc).
