Tip

  • Paint a few extra skewers in case you make any mistakes later.
  • To keep the skewers from moving around while you spray paint, lay a piece of painter's tape sticky-side-up on your spray painting surface and stick the bamboo skewers to the tape.

Step 4: Create the Long Spokes of the Sunburst Design

Take four gold skewers and use the hot glue gun to attach them to the back of the mirror in the shape of a plus sign. Make sure the skewers are equidistant from each other.

Tip

The end of each skewer should meet the wooden plaque to ensure that each "spoke" of the sunburst design is the same length.

Warning

Keep your fingers away from the hot glue as you are placing each skewer.

Continue adding skewers evenly between the already-attached skewers until you have 32 spokes total.

Tip

To help space the spokes of the sunburst design evenly, each time you add a new skewer, place it in the middle between two existing skewers and work your way around the circle.

Step 5: Create the Short Spokes of the Sunburst Design

Use cutting pliers to trim 2 1/2 inches off the blunt end of the remaining 32 skewers.
