Water return pool jets pump water back into the pool after the water is drawn into the skimmer. The skimmer connects to the pool filter where dirt, leaves, and other debris is removed and trapped from the water. To increase the movement of the water toward the skimmer, you can adjust the jets. This adjustment encourages increased water flow into the skimmer, increasing the amount of filtering taking place.

Step 1

Turn off the pool filter. If the pool is wired to an electrical system, turn off the circuit breaker switch for the swimming pool. This will stop the water jets and make adjustment easier.

Step 2

Locate the pool jets in various locations on the inside sides of the pool. You may need to swim underwater to reach some of the jets.

Step 3

Grasp the tip of the jet you want to adjust and move it so the tip is pointing toward the nearest skimmer. The skimmer is the rectangular opening near the water surface where dirt and debris is drawn into.

Step 4

Repeat Step 4 for each additional jet you want to adjust. Turn the pool filter system back on.

Tip

Use a handheld skimmer net periodically to remove large debris that isn't reaching the filter skimmer.

Warning

Do not get too close to the skimmer or other suction-based openings in the pool, as this can cause your hair or clothing to become stuck.
