Now you can build an accurate model of the Great Pyramid of Giza.

One of the Seven Wonders of the World, the Great Pyramid of Giza in Cairo, Egypt, is an impressive structure to make a model of. Building a model of the pyramid, with sides that can be opened and closed, will give you and those admiring your work a view of what the pyramid may have looked like on the inside when it was in operation. By keeping the same ratio of the dimensions of the pyramid, you can build an accurate representation of it at any size.

Step 1

Draw a square in the center of your piece of poster board with each of the four sides measuring 7 inches long; use the corner of a separate sheet of paper to ensure each corner is 90 degrees. The Great Pyramid of Giza is essentially constructed of four triangles, each with a base measuring 755 feet long, and two sides each measuring 715 feet. If a ratio of 7:7 (base to height of each triangle) is maintained, the pyramid will look accurate.

Step 2

Draw a triangle using each of the four sides of the square as their bases. The remaining two sides of each triangle should measure 7 inches long, as well.

Step 3

Cut out the shape along the perimeter of it and fold each triangle upward, creased along the baseline where each triangle meets the square.

Step 4

Cut out two small triangles (each side measuring 1/2 inch) from the hook side of a piece of Velcro, then cut out two matching triangles from the loop side of the Velcro.

Step 5

Glue one of the hook Velcro triangles to the inside tip of one of the triangles protruding from the base square. Glue the two loop Velcro triangles to the tips of the two triangles on either side of the one with the hook Velcro. Finally, glue the remaining hook Velcro triangle to the remaining triangle's tip.

Tip

When the four triangles are lifted up into position, closing the pyramid, the four Velcro segments will stick to each other, holding the poster board into the position of the pyramid, allowing you to open and close it to expose the inside.

Add decoration to the inside of the pyramid showcasing what was happening or was stored inside it during its period of use.
