Working with sheet metal can be a challenge.

There are a few different ways that you can attach a piece of sheet metal to a wood frame. You can use cement as an adhesive, attach the metal with screws or you can simple nail the sheet metal to the wood. This is one of the most basic methods you can choose, so it works well for those who do not have extensive experience working with sheet metal. Even if you have a lot of experience, you still need to work carefully.

Step 2

Drill pilot holes through the sheet metal that are smaller than the heads of the nails you are using to secure it.

Step 3

Position the sheet metal once again on the wooden frame. If the surface is tilted or the metal slides, clamp it in place temporarily.

Step 4

Place each finishing nail over the pilot holes and tap them in place with a hammer. Continue working around the sheet metal until it's completely secured to the wood.

Tip

If you’re attaching the sheet metal to a wooden frame to create a roof, such as on a shed, use roofing nails.
