How to Set the Paper Size on the Cricut Expression

  • Cricut Expression

  • Cartridge

  • Cutting Mat

  • Paper

The Cricut Expression, manufactured by the Provo Craft company, is a personal cutting tool used by home craft makers. The device uses cartridges loaded with a collection of images, fonts and sayings. The Cricut Expression comes with a 12-inch square cutting mat, you may also purchase a 12-inch by 24-inch cutting mat. If you want to cut paper smaller than 12 inches square, you will need to set the paper size.

Step 1

Plug your Cricut into a grounded wall outlet. Open the Cricut by pulling up on the protective flap. Place the cartridge into the slot located on the right side of the machine. Place the keyboard overlay, included with your cartridge, over the keys at the top of the machine.

Step 2

Turn the Cricut on, press the "Mat Size" button to change the mat size if you are using the 12-inch by 24-inch mat. The Cricut Expression's default mat size is 12 inches square.

Step 3

Remove the protective clear covering from your cutting mat. Align your paper with the "Align Here" arrow on the cutting mat. Place the mat into the rollers on the front of the machine, arrow first. Then press "Load Paper."

Step 4

Use the blade navigation button surrounding the "Cut" button to move the blade housing to the upper right hand corner of the paper.

Step 5

Press the "Set Paper Size" button located on the keyboard overlay.
