Things You'll Need

  • 5 mm drill bit

  • Phillips or slotted screwdriver

  • Wire connectors

  • Electrical tape

Installing a three-light vanity light over your mirror in the bathroom gives you more light and reduces shadows that can affect your grooming. Shadows could cause you to miss a spot as you shave or apply too little or too much make up. Replacing a single light fixture with a multi-light fixture can brighten your entire bathroom. Hampton Bay is a proprietary brand of the Home Depot and produces several styles of three-light vanity lights.

Step 2

Turn off the breaker supplying the electricity to the vanity light installation location. Place the Hampton Bay vanity light mounting bracket onto the wall over the electrical box in the wall. Mark the four keyhole openings in each corner of the mounting bracket onto the wall.

Step 3

Drill 5 mm holes in the wall at each marked location. Insert the four plastic anchors that came with the Hampton Bay three-light vanity into the holes you drilled in the wall.

Step 4

Insert the four mounting screws into the anchors and twist them by hand, lightly installing them into the anchors. Slip the mounting bracket onto the screws through the keyhole slots. Tighten the screws into the anchors, securing the mounting bracket to the wall.

Connect the white wire from the Hampton Bay three-light vanity to the white wire from the electrical box by twisting a wire connector onto the two wires. Secure the wire connectors to both sets of wires by wrapping the connectors and wires with electrical tape.
