Dye a suede purse to give a new look.

Suede is used for boots, shoes, jackets and even automobile upholstery. But, it's a soft material that is susceptible to water damage. You can change the color of a suede item with fabric dye. The process takes a few hours, but is the same for dying boots or other suede goods.

Step 1

Put on the rubber gloves. Crumple up the newspaper and put it inside the boots. Stuff enough newspaper in the boots so they stand up straight without additional support.

Step 2

Open up the can of leather dye. Apply the leather dye to the suede using the applicator from the bottle. Coat the surface of the boots with the dye. Evenly coat the boots and touch up any areas that may have been missed. Allow the dye to dry for at least 24 hours.

Step 3

Spray the boots with the outdoor suede protectant. Allow the protectant to dry for at least an hour before wearing the boots. Scuff up the nap on the suede with a suede brush to give it a more natural look.
