Things You'll Need

  • Clean cloth(s)

  • Water

The Hoover SteamVac SpinScrub is an upright carpet cleaner that uses multiple rows of cleaning brushes that rotate to pull dirt and debris up from the floor. The unit also uses a heated cleaning process to help remove ground-in dirt. The SpinScrub has a 12-amp motor and separate clean and dirty water tanks. The SpinScrub carries a full one-year warranty, but users may want to try troubleshooting methods if the spinning brushes stop spinning during use.

Step 1

Ensure the SpinScrub is completely plugged in to a working power supply. Replace the fuse or reset the circuit breaker, if needed.

Step 2

Turn the speed selector to "Low" or "Hi" to activate the spin brushes. If the speed selector is set to "Off," the unit will not operate as expected.

Step 3

Turn off and unplug the SpinScrub. Locate the indicator screen on the front of the machine and lift up the clear cover. Wipe the indicator screen with a damp cloth and close the cover again. If the indicator screen is dirty, it may cause the SpinScrub to begin to malfunction.

Step 4

Lower the unit handle once the machine is turned off and unplugged. Flip the vacuum cleaner over to expose the bottom. Grab one of the rotating brushes and pull gently until the latches on the bottom of the brush roll are exposed. Push down on the latches to pull out the brush roll. Clean the brush roll with water, and remove any strings or fibers that may be preventing proper rotation. Shake the brush roll dry, then align the posts on the ends of the brush roll with the slots inside the vacuum. The square post in the middle of the brush roll will fit into the square hole in the center of the vacuum. Turn the brushes clockwise until the brush roll snaps into position.

Step 5

Contact Hoover if the problem persists.
