There are ways to hang pictures in your home without destroying the walls.

If you've just purchased new portraits for your home, you'll want to display them in a way that will beautifully complement the room. However, it's important to know how to hang the art on the wall without damaging the walls and causing cracks or splits in the paint. Using alternate methods to display your artwork in a way that doesn't involve nailing holes into the wall adds an impressive decorative feature to your home. In this way, you can keep both your walls and artwork in the best condition possible.

Hanging Pictures on the Walls

Step 1

Place the wall hanging on top of the white side of the wrapping paper.

Step 2

Trace the shape of the portrait with a pencil onto the wrapping paper.

Step 3

Place a piece of tape on the wrapping paper.

Step 4

Stick the wrapping paper with the portrait outline on the wall, moving it to various places until you've found the spot you like. This prevents you from nailing multiple holes in and chipping the wall.

Step 5

Hammer a nail into the spot in the wall you've selected for the portrait, and hang the picture.

Hanging Pictures on a Board

Step 1

Select a thin wooden board or plank. A 2x4 board, or a wood piece that is slightly thinner, will work well depending on how heavy your portraits are.

Step 2

Drill nails into the board -- space the holes far enough apart that the pictures do not run into each other.

Step 3

Hang one picture on each nail so that you display a series of pictures on the board vertically.

Step 4

Prop the board up against the wall to showcase the portraits -- this method keeps you from having to damage your walls at all and can complement your room decor well.
