Broan manufacturers a wide line of bathroom exhaust fans, including the Nautilus series. The bath fan extracts moist air and steam from the bathroom to help prevent mold and mildew. Over time, your bath fan requires cleaning to keep the unit running efficiently. You must remove the grill on a Nautilus bath fan to clean the unit. Removing the grill depends on whether your Nautilus bath fan has a light or is a standard fan with no light.
Things You'll Need
- Masking tape
- Flat-head screwdriver
- Phillips-head screwdriver
- Needle nose pliers
Tape the end of a flat-head screwdriver with masking tape. Insert the screwdriver between the lens cover and the Nautilus bath fan grill. Pry the lens cover down. The lens will drop down 2 inches when it is loosened from the grill.
Push the spring clips inward with your fingers. The spring clips are on the sides of the lens between the lens and the grill. Pull the lens away from the grill while pushing the spring clips.
Find the screws securing the grill to the Nautilus fan base. The screws are either on each side where the lens cover mounted or one single screw in the center. Remove the screws with a Phillips-head screwdriver and lower the grill away from the fan.
Place your finger tips on two opposing sides of the grill. Gently pull down to release the grill. The grill will only drop 2 inches or less.
Press inward on the two spring clips securing the grill to the fan base wit your fingers. If you are unable to reach the clips with your fingers, release one side with a pair of needle nose pliers.
Release the other clip with the needle nose pliers and remove the grill from the Nautilus fan.
