How to Wash Cotton Polyester

Cotton/polyester clothing is made from fibers of both cotton and synthetic polyester. The fabric is lightweight and typically does not need to be ironed, which makes it great for traveling. The cotton polyester blend doesn't shrink as much as cotton, but it is susceptible to stains. Here is how to care for clothing that is made from a cotton-polyester blend.


Things You'll Need

  • Washing machine

  • Detergent

  • Dryer/hangers

Step 1

Machine wash on the warm cycle with a detergent of your choice.

Add a fabric softener if you so desire.

Step 3

Read the label on the clothing to see if the article needs to be dried in the dryer or air-dried. Dry it accordingly.


Spray the fabric with a stain remover if your clothing has a stain before you wash it. Rub the fabric together to try to remove the stain.
