Things You'll Need

  • Essential oils

  • 16-oz. bottle of 91 percent isopropyl rubbing alcohol

A Lampe Berger uses rubbing alcohol as its fragrance base.

Lampe Berger fragrance lamps are glass vessels with a wick that protrudes from the top. When you fill the lamp with fragrant oil and light the wick, the fragrance is dispersed into the surrounding space. Although an effective home deodorizing device, the prepackaged Lampe Berger fragrance oils are very costly. These oils are, in fact, largely not oil, but rather simple rubbing alcohol with a few drops of essential oils. You can mix the oil yourself at a lower cost than the prepackaged oils.

Step 3

Pour the oil and alcohol mixture into the Lampe Berger.

Warning

Only use 91 percent alcohol. Do not add too much essential oil. If these or anything else causes the lamp to smoke, extinguish it immediately.

Do not leave your Lampe Berger burning unattended.
